Turning a residue into a resource
Carbolite is a technology capable of economically converting fine carbonaceous materials and metal ores
into hard pellets whose size may be selected from the range of 2mm to 50mm.
The technology can easily be applied to process coal fines, coke breeze, gasification residues, char, furnace
dust and a variety of metal ores. Composite pellets composed of a variety of these materials are also within
the scope of the technology.
The pellets produced in the Carbolite process find applications in numerous industrial processes where they
can be used in the same applications as their primary products. These include fuels, reductants and/or raw
materials. The composition of the pellets can be adapted to the demands of the process in which the pellets
are used by adding other fine raw materials and additives.
Turning a dusty raw material into an easy to handle product
Emission of dust, coursed by coal fines, ore fines or dusty recycle flows, is and will always
be a major problem in the industry.
Aarding Lightweight Granulates has the technology and experience to process all kind of
carbonaceous and ore fines into a hard granulate with a very limited dust generation.
The strength of the granulates is sufficient for material handling purposes.
The size of the granulates may vary between 2 and 50 mm depending upon the application.
An extra advantage is the possibility to add one or more additives in the raw material or
make a composite granulate from different raw materials.
Don't refuse to re-use
Worldwide huge quantities of coal fines with almost the same specification as the run of
mine coal are disposed only because of their dusty characteristics.
These fines can’t be handled dust free from storage to harbor and ship and in reverse at the
customers side. Converted into granulates it can follow the same material handling route as the lump
coal.
A range of raw materials
During the years a variety of raw materials has been tested, like:
- coal fines
- coke breeze
- gasification residues
- char
- furnace dust
- several metal ores
